The Purpose of Faith Covenant Church is to serve God by calling people into a lasting personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and to enable them to live as His disciples in the world through the power of the Holy Spirit.

“Through (Jesus Christ) (we)…are…joined together as part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.” Ephesians 2:22 (NLT)

Here at Faith Covenant Church we adopted a mission statement that says we will connect people with God, help them grow into faithful followers of Jesus, and serve the church, community and world around us. It’s vital to have a direction. Just as important, though, is how a church goes about its business. A community can have the most inspiring mission statement, but a church is not just about a mission, though that’s essential. A church is also a group of people who are committed to caring for one another as they move along the path of fulfilling the mission. Part of growing is becoming more like Christ and emulating the way he went about carrying out his mission. To this end we as a church adopted a set of ten Missional Values.

We all need to think about these and consider how we can incorporate these attitudes and commitments into our individual as well as our corporate life.  If we are people who live in the light of the experience and truth of the resurrection, there should be something different about who we are, where we’re going, and how we live.                 New Community Sermon Archive

God calls Faith Covenant Church to be a community where…

1. We will love others as Christ loves us.
John 13.34-35
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

2. The Bible will form our lives, decisions and choices.
2 Timothy 3.16-17
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

3. Prayer will be a first action not a last resort.
Philippians 4.6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

4. We intentionally share Jesus and help people grow in their faith.
2 Timothy 2.2
And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.
Acts 1.8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

5. We are willing to be uncomfortable if it means someone else will hear about Jesus.
Mark 8.34
Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”

6. We will use our gifts and abilities to serve each person according to their needs.
1 Corinthians 12.7
Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

7. We are open to new ideas and methods that will help us effectively impact others.
Matthew 9.16-17
No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. Neither do men pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.

8. Leaders will cast vision, equip believers and continually assess ministry performance.
Nehemiah 2.17-18
Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.” I also told them about the gracious hand of my God upon me and what the king had said to me.

9. We carefully manage and deploy the resources God gives us.
1 Corinthians 4.2
Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.

10. We will strive to maintain unity and protect our relationships with each other.
John 17.23
I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
