north american japanese outreach

In a typical year more than 10,000 Japanese nationals live in Southeast Michigan. Ten years ago, Masako and Shunichi Miyamoto came to the Detroit area from their home in Japan as missionaries to the Japanese nationals. The Miyamotos, the Great Lakes Conference, the Japan Covenant Church, Faith Covenant Church plus other GLC churches formed NAJO (North American Japanese Outreach). The mission of NAJO is to proclaim the gospel to and care for the Japanese nationals in the Detroit Metro area, Southeast Michigan, and beyond.

NAJO has the following primary mission activities:

  1. Ministry to the Japanese through Faith Covenant Church: English classes, Bible study, and cooking, crafting, and parenting classes
  2. Japanese outreach in and around Michigan
  3. Traveling mission tours to Japanese churches in other states
  4. Care for Japanese nationals who have returned to Japan and need help to maintain their new Christian faith
  5. Skype Bible study

Please give to NAJO this advent season so that the Miyamotos and NAJO may continue to minister to the Japanese nationals through Faith Covenant Church.

How to Give

NAJO is a “faith mission” and funding has diminished in the last year. Please consider a special Christmas/year end gift to NAJO!  Checks to “Faith Covenant Church”/ memo line, “NAJO” or give online at www.4fcc.org/giving.
